The HKGI Summer Internship Programme offers a unique opportunity for passionate and aspiring students to gain valuable experience and industry insights in genomics and related fields.  The programme offers students the opportunity to explore the operations of the Hong Kong Genome Project (HKGP), working with a team of highly professional and experienced professionals.

We are seeking passionate students eager to develop their careers in genomics and related fields.  Successful candidates will be assigned to the Corporate Communications team.

  • Assist in the content development, design and production of HKGI corporate publications and multimedia content, including videos and social media materials such as the Annual Report and LinkedIn updates
  • Conduct industry research; draft and translate promotion materials to publicise HKGI’s work
  • Support the planning, logistics and coordination of stakeholder engagement initiatives
  • Support daily news and social media monitoring
  • Provide administrative support, including record management and general daily operations
  • Participate in specific projects as required
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by mentors

Requirements

  • Residents of the HKSAR and lawfully employable in the HKSAR
  • Keen to learn and work in genomics and related fields
  • University students majoring in Communications, Languages, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related disciplines
  • Self-starter with positive attitude and a high sense of responsibility
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Chinese word processing; experience with graphic design and video production tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Premiere) is an advantage
  • Proven academic excellence and performance
  • Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese

Programme Duration

Successful candidates will receive four to eight weeks of on-the-job training at the Hong Kong Genome Institute between June and August 2026, with a monthly allowance to be determined by the HKGI.  The internship period may be extended subject to HKGI operational requirements and candidates’ availability.
