Research Assistant (Laboratory)

Report to Single-Cell Sequencing and Multi-omics Scientists, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform molecular biology techniques under supervision and guidance to support multi-omics research projects, including protein detection/validation and mammalian cell culturing
  • Participate in the end-to-end specimen workflow, including registration, processing, storage, retrieval, and preparation for downstream studies
  • Support daily laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, inventory management, procurement of reagents, and quality assurance  
  • Maintain accurate and organised laboratory records, ensuring timely data entry, document management, and upholding data integrity in accordance with laboratory policies
  • Support laboratory logistics, including receipt of specimens from collaborators and providing clerical support for specimen collection
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers

Requirements

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Research Assistant (Laboratory) who possesses:

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Biomedical Sciences, Genetic Sciences, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences or a relevant life science field
  • Up to 2 years of hands-on wet lab experience.  Academic laboratory experience gained during university final year projects, or internships is fully recognised and welcomed
  • Strong theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of fundamental molecular biology techniques workflow including:
    • Nucleic acid extraction and quantification
    • Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and product analysis
    • Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR)
    • Western blotting (WB)
  • Solid grasp of the mechanisms underlying molecular biology assays, with the ability to critically evaluate sample QC outputs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good command of written Chinese and English, and fluency in spoken Cantonese
  • A proactive mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to execute tasks precisely after instruction
  • A team-oriented mindset and a commitment to continuous learning within a dynamic research setting

Remuneration

Successful candidate will be offered attractive remuneration and be appointed on an initial two-year contract (subject to mutual agreement for contract renewal).
