Dr Brian CHUNG Hon-yin (Interim Chief Executive Officer)
Dr Chung is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Genome Institute (HKGI). In this role, he supports HKGI’s strategic direction and assists with institutional development, stakeholder engagement, and the coordination of scientific, clinical application, and operational priorities. He contributes to HKGI’s ongoing efforts to promote genomic medicine in Hong Kong and to the implementation of the Hong Kong Genome Project.
He concurrently serves as HKGI’s Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, where he provides clinical and scientific oversight in support of the quality, integrity, and appropriate integration of genomic services and research.
Dr Chung is a specialist in Paediatrics and Clinical Genetics, with professional training from The University of Hong Kong and The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists and a founding fellow of the Genetics & Genomics (Paediatrics) subspecialty of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
He is the Immediate Past President of the Asia Pacific Society of Human Genetics and has previously contributed to territory‑wide planning for genomic services through his involvement in the Hospital Authority’s Strategic Service Framework for Genetic and Genomic Services.
